Ah, again with the heartbreak. Its pretty true to say that most of what I write is based on stuff that's actually happened, and yes, I was sitting in that car in the cold on a few nights.
The actually story of the song is straightforward - I'm sure plenty of you have been there. I just decided to sing about it.
As a postscript, I'm still really good friends with the girl in question, and she knows there's a song out there about her. So that's ok, no?
